Editorial Policy
The standards behind every article on PropertyFixNow: what we publish, how we source it, when we update it, and how we put things right when we get them wrong.

Our Purpose
PropertyFixNow exists to help homeowners understand their homes: what is going wrong, why, what a reasonable fix looks like, and when a job belongs with a licensed professional. Every article is judged against one question: does this help a real person make a better decision about their home? Content that exists only to attract search traffic, pad out a category or sell something does not meet that standard and is not published.
Accuracy and Sourcing
Articles are written from established trade practice, manufacturer documentation and guidance from authoritative public bodies. Where a claim depends on a specific standard, safety rule or figure, we say where it comes from and link to the source inline. Sources we lean on include the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission for product hazards, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for mold and indoor air quality, the U.S. Department of Energy for efficiency and HVAC guidance, the National Fire Protection Association for electrical and fire safety, and the International Code Council for model building codes.
We do not invent statistics, cite sources we have not read, or present opinion as fact. When evidence is thin or practice varies by region, the article says so. Local codes and permit requirements differ across states and municipalities; we describe common requirements and direct readers to their local building department for the rules that apply to them.
Safety-First Framing
Home repair involves real risk. Articles describe hazards plainly, put shutoff and protective steps before the repair steps, and use clear safety notices for genuinely dangerous work. We state directly when a task should not be a do-it-yourself project. Work on electrical systems, gas lines, structural elements, roofs and heights, and mold or biohazard cleanup is consistently framed as work for licensed or certified professionals. We never downplay a risk to make an article feel more approachable.
Editorial Independence and Commercial Disclosures
Our planned funding model includes display advertising and affiliate links. Affiliate links can generate a commission when a reader makes a qualifying purchase or completes another qualifying action. Advertising and affiliate providers have not yet been activated. Our Disclaimer explains these planned relationships, and our Privacy Policy describes current information practices.
Our editorial standard is to base recommendations on relevant evidence and the reader's needs. Compensation is not evidence of a product's quality or suitability. Where affiliate links appear, the commercial relationship must be explained clearly near the relevant recommendation or link. Display ads must be identified as advertising and kept visually distinct from editorial content. Paid placement must not be presented as independent editorial judgment or proof that a product or contractor has been tested or vetted.
Publication and Update Dates
Every article shows the date it was first published. An Updated date appears only when the content has meaningfully changed: a corrected fact, revised guidance, new material or a substantive rewrite. We do not change dates for cosmetic edits, and we never refresh dates simply to appear current. Some articles also carry a Reviewed date, which means an editor re-checked the content against current guidance without changing its substance. Safety-sensitive and fast-changing topics are prioritized for review.
Corrections
We want to know when something is wrong. To report an error, email contact@propertyfixnow.com with the article title or web address, the passage in question, and, where possible, a source that supports the correction. Every report is reviewed by an editor. Confirmed errors are corrected in the article, and when a correction is material, meaning it changes the guidance a reader would act on, we add a note explaining what changed. Minor fixes such as typos are made without a note. Details of how to reach us are on the contact page.
Author Accountability
Every article carries a byline that links to the author's profile, where you can read who they are, what topics they focus on, and everything else they have written for the site. Author profiles describe real experience and do not claim licences, certifications or credentials the person does not hold. If an article is reviewed by a second person, that reviewer is named as well.
